The SCM20ASL is the most compact active speaker in the ATC range, inspired by their 50th anniversary Limited Edition design and perfectly suited to smaller listening spaces where musical enjoyment comes first. Built around ATC’s long-standing philosophy, the SCM20ASL combines their renowned in-house drive units with perfectly matched onboard amplification. Its sealed cabinet design also plays an important role, keeping bass tight and controlled—especially helpful in smaller rooms or when the speakers are positioned close to walls.

Inside the cabinet, everything is carefully engineered to work in harmony. The 150mm Super Linear mid/bass driver and 25mm S-Spec soft dome tweeter are each powered by dedicated Class A/B amplifiers, delivering 200W and 50W respectively. This means each driver receives exactly the power it needs, resulting in cleaner sound, lower distortion and a more natural presentation across the entire frequency range. The advanced motor design of the mid/bass driver reduces distortion through the critical midrange, while the tweeter’s dual-suspension design captures fine detail with ease and extension well beyond 20kHz.

The crossover is handled actively at line level using a precision Linkwitz-Riley design, ensuring seamless integration between drivers. An additional all-pass filter refines phase alignment, improving imaging and tonal balance so instruments and voices sit exactly where they should in the soundstage. Around the back, balanced XLR input and simple user controls for input sensitivity and bass adjustment make it easy to tailor the speaker to different systems and rooms.

As with all ATC designs, the cabinet is solidly built with extensive internal bracing to minimise resonance. A wide choice of finishes—from classic veneers to modern satin or high-gloss options—means it can suit both traditional and contemporary spaces. Each pair is hand-built in England and backed by a 6-year warranty, reflecting ATC’s commitment to long-term reliability.
