Shunyata Research power products

Updated: Apr 27

Shunyata’s latest upgrade to its existing product portfolio is the 'X' series. Included in the upgrade is the Everest-X Power distributor and the Sigma-X AC power cords.

Several favourable reviews have been published, including Robery Harley from The Absolute Sound. In his review, (https://www.theabsolutesound.com/articles/shunyata-research-x-series/) he provides clear comparisions between the 'X' servies and the previous versions.

I incrementally replaced my existing Everest conditioner, Omega and Sigma power cords, and Altaira grounding hubs with the new “X” versions over the course of about a month, starting with the Everest. The Everest-X produced a deeper background along with a heightened impression of instruments existing in three-dimensional space. The soundstage was set a bit farther back, yet the sense of immediacy and presence increased. The air around instrumental images was more tangible, and the entire stage took on a greater dimensionality. The overall sense of size also increased, and I could more clearly hear the outlines of the hall. Instruments at the rear of the stage were portrayed more vividly, with greater clarity and resolution of timbre and microdynamics. I also had a greater impression of images being even more detached from the loudspeakers. The X version had a superior rendering of bass, with greater impact, depth, texture, and dynamic authority. The entire low end had greater muscularity and weight. Low-level resolution also increased, revealing very fine details of timbre and micro-dynamics that contributed to a sense of realism.

His conclusion is that the new “X” versions of Shunyata Research components represent a substantial technological leap rather than a simple update. Across the range, the defining improvement is clarity: music is brought into sharper focus, revealing previously hidden detail and enhancing the sense of three-dimensional space. Each upgrade contributes incrementally, but together the X series delivers a significant uplift in overall system performance, elevating both resolution and realism.

In another review on the Sigma X power cables by Don Shaulis from Stereo Times, (https://www.stereotimes.com/post/shunyata-research-sigma-x-nr-ac-power-cables-by-don-shaulis/) he talks about how the better the system is, the more damaging noise can be.

However, with the SIGMA-X NR power cords on the amplifiers, I felt the increase in presence and dynamics was even more pronounced. It was like I had more powerful and upgraded amplifiers. The ease of presentation was greatly enhanced. In addition, I noticed that on several CDs, background drums became defined as musical instruments instead of amorphous thuds. Noise is the culprit. And the NR designation on the SIGMA-X power cords stands for Noise Reduction.

Shunyata Research have announced several recent product news items. Firstly, Shunyata Research’s award-winning Everest-X power distributor is now available in two form factors. Joining the original vertical tower is the new Everest-X Shelf, a low-profile model designed to fit seamlessly into standard audio rack systems.

Also recently announced is that all previous generation Everest units are now eligible for the Everest-X upgrade. This program gives existing owners the chance to experience the latest Everest-X performance without purchasing a brand-new unit.

The Everest-X Tower is available in Australia with Austrailan outlets. The Denali-X will follow later this year with Australian outlets.
