Uptone JS-4 Linear Power Supply

Updated: Apr 27

The UpTone Audio JS-4 is one of those rare components that operates quietly in the background, yet reshapes the entire listening experience. Designed as a state-of-the-art regulated linear power supply, it replaces the often-overlooked weak link in many systems—the stock switching supply—with something far more refined. The result is not subtle in the right context: lower noise floors, improved tonal density, and a sense of ease and coherence that allows music to breathe more naturally.

What makes the JS-4 particularly compelling is its flexibility. With two independent output rails, each capable of delivering 2.1 amps of continuous current, it can power a wide range of components—from streamers and DACs to network switches and modems. Eight selectable voltages (from 3.3V through to 15V) means it adapts easily as a system evolves. When greater current is required, a dedicated mode combines both rails into a single, more powerful output, delivering up to 4 amps without compromising stability.

In listening terms, the gains often come through as a reduction in digital glare and an increase in clarity without harshness. Textures feel more resolved, spatial cues more defined, and timing more assured. These are the kinds of improvements that accumulate decisively over time. It’s no surprise the JS-4 has attracted strong user feedback and industry recognition, including a nomination for a “Most Wanted 2025” award from StereoTimes.

Within Sublime Hi-Fi systems, the experience has been consistent. Clients too, frequently report meaningful improvements when introducing the JS-4 into their digital front end, with some choosing to extend its use—adding a second unit to support network infrastructure such as switches or modems. It becomes less a single upgrade, and more a foundational component—one that elevates everything connected to it.
